Fundraising

Fundraising and public support is the backbone of our organisation. Without the generosity of the public we cannot survive, as we receive no State Funding or Funds from any Healthcare Groups. Important Notice All fundraising events conducted on behalf of Rathdrum Cancer Support Group (RCSG) mustbe approved by the committee prior to commencement.

Rathdrum Cancer Support group will issue Event Hosts with a permit card or certificate prior to commencement. This is to help maintain the integrity of this organisation and potential fundraisers. People have adopted many creative forms of fundraising throughout the years. Here is a selection of events that have brought in much needed funds to enable the group to offer helpful services and assistance to patients and their families.

In line with Charity Registration Guidelines the following code of practice must be adhered to by all fundraisers. Prior to organising a fundraising event on our behalf, you must be 18 years of age or over. If under 18 you must present permission from a parent or guardian to RCSG. RCSG, are happy to offer support, assistance and advise when co-coordinating your proposed event. However, the overall running of an event, including insurance, expenses, record keeping and management is the responsibility of the fundraisers. To comply with auditor requirements and to preserve the integrity of you, the event organiser, it is required that at least two people oversee an event and be present in the counting and remittance of the proceeds. We also require that any proceeds raised on behalf of RCSG be remitted as soon as possible after a fundraising event or within a maximum of 30 days.

Many people have used personal occasions and bereavements as acknowledgement of gratitude and support to RCSG as a means of raising funds eg. birthdays, weddings, anniversaries or at the passing of a family member. Any individual or group must discuss fundraising plans with Rathdrum Cancer Support Group prior to organising or advertising an event on our behalf. Volunteers

Volunteer Drivers & General Volunteers

Volunteers

Volunteer Drivers

This is our most requested service within RCSG, and without the good nature and generosity of our drivers with their time, this organisation could not function.

The driver is the person who deals with our clients more frequently than any other committee members and are the real Face of RCSG. They treat the clients with respect, compassion and dignity always.
At Rathdrum Cancer Support Group, we cannot express enough how important these generous male and female volunteers are, and the importance of their contribution to the groups integrity and success.

Garda Vetting

All volunteer drivers must have Garda Vetting prior to driving for RCSG. All volunteer drivers must have a clean full driving licence. Volunteer drivers, “procedures guidelines” will be issued to all drivers.

If you think you could be a volunteer driver, please contact us!

Volunteers

General Volunteer

Another crucial component of a smooth running organisation is the role general volunteers can play within the group.

The role of the general volunteer varies from assisting at fund raising events, participating in hospital visits, to becoming active members on the committee.

Professional individuals are always welcome to share their expertise with the group or with patients on a voluntary basis e.g: counselling, physio, massage etc.

If you would like to become an active volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact us!
